It's really close between Mario and Zelda. I went with Mario because the old Super Mario games are just as fun as the newer ones. Can't say the same for Zelda. I don't much care for the original or the second. Pokemon would come in third. |

Pokémon was the first franchise I ever really got into. It all started when I was 7 years old, when I started watching the program. I was immediately addicted, and soon after bought Colosseum for the GC. After that, it just kinda took off. Trading cards, figures, you name it - I loved it all. Even now, 10 years later, I still love playing the games and enjoy battling it out with Empoleon or Lucario. Great Poll! |

Mario for me. Never liked Legend of Zelda or Metroid games, Pokémon and Animal Crossing are too slow-paced and the only Starfox game I've enjoyed is Starfox 64. Plus, if we're talking the entire franchise, we're also talking about Mario Kart here. Mario Kart 64 is my favourite party game by miles. |

First would be Mario w/o a doubt. The series is know worldwide and people know Mario more readily than Link of Samus. With that being said, I would put LOZ just in front of Metroid because after Mario, I grew to love LOZ and then started playing Metroid soon after. Mario wins the overall gameplay category. LOZ for nice flowing storylines and characters. Metroid for visual splendor, cast development, and unique storylines. |

I'd have to say Zelda. No disrespect to the other franchises, but damn, I've enjoyed every single Zelda game I've ever played. Even the original Zelda is still pretty cool, even if it is really, REALLY dated. Mario is an easy second, with Metroid and Pokemon coming in a tie for third. Star Fox is a decent franchise, but is totally over rated. Star Fox 64 was fun, and Adventure was awesome, but other than that, meh. Donkey Kong as a franchise is kinda confusing. There's the Country series, the 64 game, and.... Like, that's it, right? Animal Crossing is sort of a mini-franchise with 3 games. I also agree that Mario Kart should be there. |

Pokemon, just because of everything that has came out of it. I would argue it's the one that is a world wide phenomenon. |

There's a ton of Donkey Kong games You could even argue that the entire Mario series is a part of the Donkey Kong Series, though it's pretty well established that it's the other way around.Donkey Kong Donkey Kong Junior Donkey Kong 3 Donkey Kong (Game Boy) Mario vs. Donkey Kong Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis Donkey Kong: Minis March Again Donkey Kong Country Donkey Kong Land Donkey Kong Country 2 Donkey Kong Land 2 Donkey Kong Country 3 Donkey Kong Land III Donkey Kong 64 Jungle Beat DK King of Swing DK King of Swing 2 DK Jungle Climber Original Donkey Kong LCD games Donkey Kong Jr. Math Diddy Kong Racing Donkey Konga Donkey Konga 2 Donkey Konga 3 Donkey Kong Barrel Blast I know there's a few titles missing from there, but that's most of them. Animal Crossing might have only 3 games, but they also have a film. Star Fox only has 5 games. (Not counting the unreleased one) I don't think enough credit is given to the Star Fox name. When compared to Nintendo's other flagships, it's like a black horse. Anywho, Zelda. LttP remains my favorite game of all time, and OOS/OOA are up there, as well. I love the series, and I love every single game. I've even learned to not hate the CDi games as I've played them with a screwdriver through my hand. |

Mario got my vote. The whole franchise is just so versatile. It can do platformers, RPG, sports, mini games, racers. I respect the Zelda franchise, I just haven't really gotten into it yet, but Zelda can't do what Mario can, if that makes sense (although you can argue that that's a good thing). Donkey Kong would have been my favorite if it wasn't forthe later games that are absolutely awful. That and the Mario Universe is absolutely amazing and is still expanding. Donkey Kong has the Kongo Jungle and nothing else. and I'm not saying that the Kongo isn't a good world, it's just look at Mario and compare to Donkey Kong's worlds. Although I believe both series have reached their peak and have gone downhill since then. Zelda, even though it has KILLER expectations to surpass, can still make a game as good as Ocarina. |

Overall I'd say I enjoy Zelda games more, but the sheer magnitude of awesome Mario games there have been make it hard to say Zelda is the better franchise. But going with my heart instead of my head, I've always preferred the sword wielder to a podgy guy, so yeah, I'll go for Zelda. |
