UPDATE: I did a bit of google research and found that mushrooms are symbols of longevity in many parts of East Asia. I also found that mushrooms are eaten by Taoist immortals. I found nothing directly attributing the mushroom to Japan in terms of symbolism. Edited by Picklegod, Nov 18 2008, 01:57 PM.
